TRUTH    BEAUTY    PRAYER

OUR GOAL

Oremus Cenacle is focused on transformation in Christ.
He will accomplish the rest.

"...it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me."
- Galatians 2:20

Finding Peace

We live in a world that is hyper-focused on activity, accomplishments, and making a name for oneself. Whether it's accumulating followers on social media, attaining wealth, or becoming an expert in a particular field, we believe that these exterior works are necessary to make us happy. There is pressure to be in the best physical shape, pressure to be an outstanding employer or employee, a perfect parent, or loving spouse. It's as if life has become a pressure cooker. In the end, we become slaves to our various paths of fulfillment and the peace that we desperately seek becomes like sand slipping through our fingers.

We know that Christ is the only One who can fulfill our every desire but does He seem hard to reach? We go to Mass, perhaps pray our Rosary, volunteer and give to the poor, yet at times it still feels stale and cold. But what if there is a better way? What if there is a way that leads to joy and deep inner peace regardless of our circumstances?

Oremus Cenacle is a new group where the focus is prayer, study, and holy friendships. [Oremus is Latin for "let us pray."] St. Teresa of Avila once said, "What a great favor God does to those He places in the company of good people." We believe that the true work is in the interior life whereby exterior works of God emanate from Him.

General Foundational Principles

  1. Daily Prayer Schedule - Identify a prayer schedule that will work in your life. This will vary by individual and your season of life. It can be very simple as long as it’s consistent.

  2. Daily Mental Prayer – The goal is to pray for 15 minutes daily. Perhaps start with minutes at first. The goal is to make it work for everyone. See here for a video

  3. Striving to Become a Eucharistic Apostle – We will change interiorly only by spending time at the feet of Jesus. Find a great video here.

  4. Regular Spiritual Reading - The spiritual reading will be planned in doable amounts so that it can be completed no matter how hectic our schedules may be.

  5. Monthly Confession

  6. Progression in virtue and self-knowledge

Fr. Chad Ripperger explains progression in the spiritual life here.

 Self-Knowledge Workshops

These are offered outside of the regular cenacle meetings.

“Know Thyself” was so important in ancient Greece that it was inscribed at the entrance of the Temple of Apollo. It’s reinforced in the Scriptures, “The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way…” (Proverbs 14:8). It’s also taught in the writings of the saints, "Self-knowledge is so important that I do not care how high you are raised up to the heavens, I never want you to cease cultivating it"  (St. Theresa of Avila). We are created in God’s image and self-knowledge will lead to Him. For those who wish to enter more deeply into self-knowledge, we will offer a variety of assistance to that end. Available workshops:

  • The Temperaments (Part 1) — Have you ever wondered why you’re quick tempered, always late, overthink situations or  react emotionally? Do certain virtues just come naturally to you while others do not? These are just a few aspects of the temperaments. We will explain the 4 temperaments and each person will learn their own primary and secondary temperaments. 60 minutes

  • Temperaments (Part 2) — In this workshop, each person will discover the following about their own temperament: Contributions, weaknesses, triggers, ideal conditions, and motivations. This is information that you will use for the rest of your life. 2 hours

  • Unique Call to Sanctity - This workshop helps participants to gain clarity on their unique vocation and purpose. By reflecting on areas of giftedness, passion, and mission, participants begin discerning practical ways to direct their activities and pursuits that align with God’s grace already active in their lives. 60 minutes

  • Active Listening - We live in a world of constant communication but often people don’t feel heard. What does it mean to really listen to someone, making them feel seen and known? This workshop will help you to discover how to truly listen. 60 minutes
