ASCENSION AND MISSION: WHERE IS JESUS?
“As they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him from their sight” (Acts 1:9). Each time I read this passage, my mind wonders what those expressions might be as the disciples watch Jesus ascend. Surprise, confusion, disappointment, curiosity, amazement? 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER: CARE FOR ORPHANS IS A CHRISTIAN RESPONSIBILITY
Christ’s statement in the gospel stands out for several reasons: “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” This affirms divine presence and trust. The context of this gospel is Christ’s farewell speech to his disciples.
