Dr. Njideko Okonjo Udochi emphasized self-care, sisterhood, and spiritual growth as pillars of a fulfilling life. She highlighted the importance of preventive medicine, citing heart disease as the leading cause of death for women globally, especially Black women, claiming one in three.
Early detection through regular health exams, including screenings for conditions like high cholesterol and cancer, is crucial.
Dr. Udochi also stressed the power of sisterhood, noting that isolation increases the risk of early death by 29%, comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. She advocated for women to prioritize self-care and connection for better health outcomes.
