Like all the kids in the orphanage, Marilyn's story is unique. She can be described as destined to survive. About six years old now, Marilyn was abandoned on the streets from where she was picked up. According the sisters, nobody believed that she would survive given her physical conditions at the time. She was hospitalized for more than a month and still goes in and out of the hospital due to her fragile nature. Marilyn has complicated health conditions including oral dysphagia (inability to chew food and problems transporting food from the mouth). She also has speech impediment and deformity in her two legs making it almost impossible to stand errect or to walk.
Marilyn is such an inspiring kid. As you can see in the picture she's got an upbeat mentality. Each time I see the kids, I look out specially for Marilyn's swag because she's always got one. What a joyful way to deal with life. If she is this hopeful already, imagine the impact your support to a kid like this would be. Imagine how it will feel for you as a mom or dad remembering that you gave life to a kid like Marilyn, that you contributed to her survival. Imagine how fulfilling it is to be a part of the story of a kid like this. She is meant to live, no doubt about that, all we can do is to make life more meaningful for her. Some day, Marilyn will be glad that we helped her find value. She will be grateful for the rest of her life.
